Expert support for complex pension calculations
We have over 15 years of paraplanning experience, with a particular emphasis on pension planning. That means we’re experts in all manner of pension calculations – a fundamental part of getting retirement advice right.
While many of these calculations are straightforward in theory, they often become time-consuming and burdensome in practice, especially when you’re working with multiple schemes, inconsistent paperwork, or unclear contribution histories. That’s where we come in. Our paraplanning team can work through the information you’ve been given, pick out what matters, and produce accurate figures to support your advice.
Whether it’s a commutation calculation to assess the impact of exchanging pension income for a tax-free lump sum, Annual Allowance calculations to assess contribution headroom, or LSA, LSDBA and TTFC assessments to establish whether a client is at risk of breaching their allowances or whether they may benefit from applying for a Transitional Tax-Free Cash Certificate, we can help. We’re used to handling messy or incomplete data, and we’ll flag any assumptions clearly so you can see exactly what’s been taken into account.
Income forecasting is also available where needed – either as a standalone calculation or as part of a wider cashflow model. We use realistic assumptions based on the client’s scheme benefits, contributions and projected growth to show how much income they might expect at retirement, and whether it aligns with their objectives. These projections are always tailored to the advice being given – never generic, and never overly optimistic.
We’re also experienced in pension calculations for divorce, including Cash Equivalent Value (CEV) comparisons and analysis of scheme rules and entitlements. These cases often need a bit more care – we focus on keeping the information balanced and easy to follow, so you can help the client and their solicitor understand the position clearly.
Every calculation we produce is reviewed, clearly documented, and delivered in a format that fits the way you work. We don’t just drop figures into a spreadsheet – we take the time to lay things out in a way that aligns with your advice and compliance process. Where appropriate, we’ll include short explanatory notes to help you and your client understand what the numbers mean and why they matter.
